Danced into a Healthy 2025 with Cynthia Bailey

As we age, our bodies become more vulnerable to respiratory viruses, with adults over 65 being 10 times more likely to be hospitalized for either Flu, COVID-19, or RSV than those under 50. Yet, despite these alarming statistics, vaccine hesitancy has caused a drop in vaccinations – especially within the Black community. African American adults aged 65+ are 10% less likely to get vaccinated, putting them at even greater risk.

However, with more available resources and preventive measures than before, you can take charge of your health. One easy way is by dancing!

One Solution, Urban One’s award-winning integrated marketing, strategic partnerships and branded content studio division and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) partnered on Happy Healthy Steppin’, a custom content public health campaign that targeted African American adults aged 50+ to stay up to date on seasonal vaccines Flu, COVID-19, and RSV.

The Happy Healthy Steppin’ campaign brought together a group of Black adults aged 65+ for a fun stepping dance class, designed to inform, empower and connect them with one another. Leading the class were owners of And 5678 Line Dance, fitness instructors and choreographers Shaunta Porter and King “B,” who motivated attendees and engaged in conversations about health – who highlighted the importance of preventative and proactive care measures, such as staying up to date with recommended seasonal vaccines.

Television personality and model Cynthia Bailey also made a special appearance, joined participants to dance, and shared encouraging words, “We all know that staying active is what keeps us strong. Illness can affect your entire life and that is why it’s so important for all of us to prioritize feeling good from the inside out.”
