TikTok Doc Gave COVID-19 Health Advice

Black Doctor Debunked COVID-19 Myths on TikTok

A growing number of Black doctors used social media to address vaccine hesitancy in Black communities. Dr. Kristamarie Collman, a family medicine physician from Orlando, reached more than 500,000 people through her trendy TikTok videos, addressing common misconceptions about the COVID-19 vaccine

“I felt as though it was my responsibility as a physician to make sure that I was spreading correct information, especially on social media,” Dr. Collman said in a recent interview. “I wanted people to know that as a Black woman, as a Black physician, that I heard them, and I understood their hesitancy. I understood their concerns.”

Her commitment to providing trusted, science-based information on COVID-19 vaccines and bridging the gaps for Black communities earned her features in Bustle, NBC, Popsugar, NPR, Women’s Health Magazine, and more. She also authored a blog called The Glow Up and wrote a book titled Glow Up Your Life: The Rx for Looking and Feeling Good from the Inside Out.
