Simple Acts of Self-Care Go a Long Way
As the days start to lengthen, it is a good time to focus on overall health and well-being, including mental health, by practicing daily acts of self-care. Here are some self-care activities for mental health:
1. Took breaks to unwind.
Yoga, music, gardening, or exploring new hobbies are great ways to connect with yourself, family, or friends. Finding support, sharing feelings, and staying in touch helps prevent feelings of isolation.
2. Make physical activity part of your daily life.
Tending to health through physical activity doesn’t require a gym membership. Dancing, taking a walk, or even working in the yard improves mood and overall health.
3. Treat yourself to healthy foods.
Splurging on fresh fruits and vegetables, when possible, supports immunity and overall health. Many farmer’s markets and grocery stores carry fresh products that contribute to well-being.
4. Stayed up to date on vaccines.
Updated COVID-19 vaccines provide an extra measure of protection for individuals and their loved ones. Black communities were and still are disproportionately affected by COVID-19, but taking necessary steps helps keep everyone safe.
