A Little Self-Care Goes a Long Way

Simple Acts of Self-Care Go a Long Way

As the days start to lengthen, it’s a good time to tend to your overall health and well-being, including mental health by practicing daily acts of self-care. Here are some self-care activities for your mental health:

1. Take breaks to unwind.

Yoga, music, gardening or new hobbies are good ways to connect with yourself, family or friends. Find support, share your feelings and stay in touch to keep from feeling isolated.

2. Make physical activity part of your daily life.

Tending to your health through physical activity doesn’t require a gym membership. Dancing, taking a walk or even working in your yard can improve your mood and your overall health.

3. Treat yourself to healthy foods.

Splurge on fresh fruits and veggies when you can. Many farmer’s market and grocery stores carry fresh products that help with immunity and overall health.

4. Make sure you are up to date on your vaccines.

Updated COVID vaccines are an extra measure of protection for you and your loved ones. Black communities have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19, but we can help by doing what’s necessary to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.
